Green Daughter of the Sea
Well, I decided to actually try one of the Sunday Postcard Art challenges. :) This week's theme is Mermaids. My entry is very simple. Not much to it really. I used a torn dictionary page, painted with blue watercolors and featuring "sea" words, added an ArtChix Studio mermaid and text (a nod to Ovid's description of the "green daughters of the sea"). The little shell is also from ArtChix, and since I often have bleeding of images occur when using Diamond Glaze, I applied a thin coat of Modge Podge first then added a bit of Glaze so the shell would pop, a little attempt of adding depth/dimension to the image. Finally, the mermaid, words and "ocean" were coated with Modge Podge before the little shell was added.
In any case I'm happy with the finished product. With practice I'll feel a bit braver and will venture out of my safety zone. For now, this is good. :)

Oh wow this is brilliant.
Stunning card.
We all have to start somewhere, and this is a great first piece! Love your mermaid's tail.
