Mind Hump
I thought I'd participate in today's Mind Hump and post it here. Well, I like the questions posted for July 14, so I've decided to answer those. =)
1. An artist paints your portrait while you are engaging in one of your favorite activities...what would you be doing? What would the title of the portrait be?
If the portrait was painted recently, it would be of me at my laptop, tip-tap typing away. *g* As to the portrait's title .. Modern Woman or A Scaper and Her Mac .. (hee!)
2. You come in a bottle and you have magical properties, what are you? Examples: genie, pancake syrup, etc... What would be on your instruction label?
I am a genie .. in a little pink bikini. (I couldn't resist.)
My label would read: Twirl and dip. For best results, do not shake nor rub the wrong way. Keep away from excessive heat; temperatures above 85 degrees Fahrenheit might melt the genie. If below 50 degrees, please wrap the bottle in a warm, fuzzy blanket to prevent freezing. Keep out of reach of whiners, complainers, heavy drinkers, smokers and dentists. Keep bottle in a safe area surrounded by flowers, books, music, and sweet smelling objects .. like chocolate or strawberries. Do not tip upside down. And whatever you do, please refrain from yelling at or nagging at the genie in the bottle or asking her to micro manage your life, especially your finances, or her magical properties will cease to work for you and you'll run the risk of being turned into something disgustingly lumpy. In the case of accidental misuse, promptly insert assorted blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and one plump, juicy, red strawberry, then place bottle gently on a nice, comfy chair and let sit for awhile.
3. You've just been selected as a poster child for a make-believe organization. What is the organization and why have they specifically chosen you?

Lookie what I just did!
If you peek over at my Links on the right-hand side, I have added a little iTunes link, so you can hear what I'm listening to right now. :D If you scroll to the bottom of all my Links, you'll also notice a "Download iTunes" button which will let you download the iTunes application for Mac or Windows. Very cool.
On another topic, I have seen so far two Sci Fi Channel ads on NBC: Secrets of M. Night Shamalyan (or something like that) and Stargate: Atlantis. Now, if I just saw an ad for Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars, I will be in heaven.

p.s. Do you think I can hold a fundraiser to pay for needed dental work?

Saturday Blog Maze
So, I decided to participate in another meme this morning. Yes, I should be working. I know that already. I'm here at the office .. isn't that enough?
Yesterday's memes are on my LJ. My answers to Friday's Feast are here and to the Friday Q, here.
Today, I'm tackling the Saturday Blog Maze meme.
Results are as follows:
1. A Typical Female: I love the design of this site and the fact that she is a science fiction fan, or at least a SG-1 fan .. which means she saw the Farscape teaser during the premiere! Also, she has beautiful pictures posted throughout.
2. Woulda Coulda Shoulda: This blog background is crumpled paper which almost gives you the sense that you found a wadded up piece, unraveled it and found all the entries to the blog jotted down right there. 'Tis cool. There are also fun links, and the blogger has a good sense of humor.
3. Paper Napkin: I love the name of this blog (reminds me of the crumbled paper idea above). The photo album is very cool.
4. Blue Poppy: A simple design and a very pretty poppy illustration are the eye pleasing features of this site. I clicked on it because of the name.
5. Super Hero Designs .. which led me to Superhero Journal: Colorful and positive feeling, this journal has *great* Photo Friday pictures!
6. Everyday Matters: The illustrations in the entries and an ink spattered title made me smile. :)

Happy Fourth of July!
Another year, another parade ...
I love the town parade each year ... planes flying over head, doing cool maneuvers ... cookout on the Common ... Firecracker 5K road race ... practically every resident in town lining the streets to see the parade which starts at around 5:45pm and lasts until almost 8pm. Rex Trailer made a return visit. (See a picture of him here.) We also had fire trucks and police cars from other towns, army tanks, old & classic automobiles from 1917 to the 1960s, Harleys, horses, marching bands, folclorico dancers, the Ancient Mariners of CT, the Sons of the American Revolution. The Cycling Murrays returned to town as well. I think almost every group that marched in the parade last year, marched again this year.

Also, I spent the afternoon visiting at my sister's new home. We weren't charged on the way there (but we were on the way back). Their house is cute, a great little starter home, and the baby seems to love it there. :)
One of the best things .. They have raspberries! and blackberries! and (soon) strawberries!
The raspberries haven't been cared for properly. They're just small berries right now but will hopefully get bigger & juicier with sunlight and water and a little love.
There's also a tiny little shed in their yard .. a blue shed .. near the raspberry vines.
'Tis very blue. :P

Finally, I ran into L. on our way back. Poor thing was stressing over the usual, but this time it involved a movie with R. & phone calls from Ms.C. Somehow it carried over into phone calls made to both my home and to my uncle's home. I appreciated neither. In fact, it annoyed me to no end, but c'est la vie. L. has to deal with it.

M. is mountain climbing. She would say hiking, but really it's mountain climbing. Tomorrow is the parade and the cookout on the common. Monday I have off! :D

Found some fascinating memes (some banners/badges have been added to my sidebar) .. many of which I'd like to particpate in. Writing excercises are always sought out.
One Word presents you with a quickie challenge. You have 60 seconds to write (whatever you want) on the one word presented to you. The results are sometimes very interesting; it's harder than it sounds.
Weekly DV assigns themes which you use to record a DV short, then submit. This is a very cool idea.
The Writer's Digest offers daily writing "prompts" .. little assignments to get your creative juices flowing.
Daydreaming on Paper provides "random inspirations" for writing.
The Memes List offers a collection of the memes out there on the web.
Q&A: The Photographic Interview is a fascinating concept, and one I'd like to try soon.
The Thursday Threesome is another meme.
Theater Thursday is a new meme of three to four questions related to the movies.

A one time meme, copy the list of the Top 100 Movies and paste into your blog or journal, highlighting the ones that you have seen.

Wireless World
I'm completely wireless now. Finally got myself a cell phone with a coolio little ring tone. The wireless router is working, and the airport card is operational. :D
*savors the wireless wonders*
I've discovered, after my little intro. class, that I would need much instruction if I ever chose to pursue Voice Over. I swear the class was fun. Really .. it was. Of course, you'd never have known I felt that way if you'd seen or heard me do my little reading. Laura swears she thought I was going to pass out in the sound booth. lol
Anyway ...
Escapade was successful! The feedback has been extremely positive and everyone has stated repeatedly that they had a blast and are now in Scaper withdrawal. Despite the debt looming over my head (first year is always in the red), I am pleased. More than pleased .. I am considering stepping up to the challenge next year as well. Any of my cohorts wish to join me? *g*
(reminder to self: upload some of the photos I took! :P)
Now, the focus must be on FAROPS and WorldCon. (I promise both a con report and a WorldCon plan of attack are forthcoming!) Well, that and Shades of Gray. I survived con organizing duties. Somehow this gives me confidence that I will be useful on S.G. (no, not StarGate! *g*) and not as a P.A. either. Nope, once I recover some more from Escapade, I will be deep in preproduction research, etc. Hmm .. anyone out there have suggestions for me? I'm especially interested in fundraising ideas .. and fundraising experience(s). Any and all help, no matter how minor, is appreciated. Yes, I may have thought of it already, but there's no harm in reinforcing in my weary mind the avenues available for us. So, yeah, shout out. I'm listening. ;-)
Lastly, I *wish* I had the money right now to go to Comic Con. Sounds like a good time. *sniff* Same for Burbank in the fall. Though, actually, even if I *did* have the cash flow, I probably wouldn't be going anyway .. since both trips require flying. *sigh* Suggestions for traveling quickly, safely, and cheaply across country? lol

We're looking for all four seasons, all ranges of emotions, all characters, the good times, the bad times, and the muppet sex. We want it all.

More on Escapade!
Charity Auction
Sunday morning at Escapade, we will be holding an auction to benefit the charity Penny Lane, a charity in Southern California that has worked with the Boston Scapers in the past, most notably for a Christmas Secret Santa fundraiser. It's been around for more than thirty years and provides a variety of services to children in need, and we're thrilled to be working with them on this! Charity Auction
Sunday morning at Escapade, we will be holding an auction to benefit the charity Penny Lane, a charity in Southern California that has worked with the Boston Scapers in the past, most notably for a Christmas Secret Santa fundraiser. It's been around for more than thirty years and provides a variety of services to children in need, and we're thrilled to be working with them on this! Among the items donated will be a handmade Farscape quilt, various autographs, and all sorts of other fun things that we'll be using to sweeten the pot as the time comes. If you have anything you'd like to donate, please contact us and let us know! (programming@escapadeboston.com)
Music Video Contest
In conjunction with our panel on how to make your own music videos, we'll be hosting a music video contest. Entries will be accepted - in any format or length - until June 1. They will be given a world premiere at the banquet on Saturday night, and voted on that same night.
The theme for the music video contest is: Farscape. Yes, we know that sounds rather absurdly vague. But we want you to vid about what makes Farscape special to you, personally. We'll be running a Farscape trivia contest throughout the weekend, hosting a charity auction Sunday morning, screening music videos, and we've just teamed up with New England Comics to be an exclusive vendor during a Saturday afternoon swap meet. Friday afternoon will feature a catered welcome luncheon, and Friday night we'll be either heading out to a Red Sox game or to see the award-winning performance Stomp!

UFC
I'll post a report on United Fan Con East as soon as I have a chance (maybe later in the week), but I just wanted to let everyone know that the Farscape table seemed to be a success. We raised some money for Penny Lane, handed out flyers, bookmarks & magnets, and talked with others who all seemed happy to see a Farscape table there! Some hadn't heard about the mini yet either! =)
Virginia Hey was amazing and gracious, and she took time with each person at her table. I got an autograph for my Mom (who'd really wanted to be there to meet Ms. Hey) and a calendar with sketches of the Farscape cast drawn by Virginia Hey herself. (She's very talented.)
Jo presented the con book to her. Thanks to everyone who either sent messages, photos, etc., or stopped by the table to write/draw something for Ms. Hey. :D
Herdthinner has areport for Saturday up on her Live Journal if you'd like to check it out in the meantime.

Escapade Luncheon and the Meet&Greets
Welcoming Luncheon
For some of you, this may be your first Farscape convention ever. For others, it will be old hat. Either way, it's always a little hard the first day to find everyone you're looking for.
The Escapade committee is trying to make that a little easier all around by planning a welcoming luncheon on Friday afternoon. We haven't yet finalized the menu, but there are rumors of an entirely chocolate selection available through the hotel.
So at noon on Friday, come to the Hospitality Suite and get some good food, welcome new Scapers and meet old, and kick the weekend off right!

aspect of Farscape fandom that you can imagine.
Friday afternoon we'll be opening up the large panel room and scheduling out meeting times - as many as you want. If you're working with one of these groups, and you'd like to set out a time for everyone to gather, just email the programming address (programming@escapadeboston.com) and
let us know, and we'll reserve the room for you and put you on the schedule.

Boston & Filmmaking
Boston is #3 on MovieMaker Magazine's 2004 list of Top 10 Cities for Moviemakers. Also listed in the article is the link to the new Massachusetts Film Bureau site at www.massfilmbureau.com. It also mentions the BFVF which has recently closed its doors and turned over its Film & Video Festival to the Film Shack in Roxbury. They'll be the new resource on workshops and networking, I guess.
Of note, The 13th Annual Massachusetts Awards Gala with proceeds to benefit the Massachusetts Film Bureau will be held this Sunday the 29th at The Wang on Tremont Street. Tickets are $150 and include viewing of the 76th Annual Academy Awards® on the big screen. With the $500 tickets, you get a better dinner and shmoozing with celebrities. For Further Information, call 617-523-8388 or visit the Film Bureau's website.
Too bad I hadn't known about this sooner. Oh well. Looks like I'll be checking out that site more often. ;-)

The Wee Folk
Yesterday I had fairies on the brain (don't ask :P), so I did some searches online for the same. I came upon an enchanting site called The Faery Crossing which has all you wanted to know about Faeries. =)
I also took a quiz, Which type of Faery Folk are you?
You are a Sylph!
The sylphs are the air spirits. Their element has
the highest vibratory rate of the four (beside
earth, fire, water). They live hundreds of
years, often reaching one thousand and never
seeming to get old. They are said to live on
the tops of mountains. The leader of the sylphs
is a being called Paralda who is said to dwell
on the highest mountain of Earth.
Sylphs often assume human form but only for short

Kitty Update and Con Ramblings
Tigger's okay. =) We paid the ER vet a call on Sunday. I won't go into the specifics on that, but those of you who know Tiggy will have major sympathy for the vet, her assistant, and Tigger himself. Stressed is the polite way to describe my cat when he goes for a vet visit. At least now we know it's nothing devastating (arthritis) and his claws have been clipped. ;-)

Tigger's okay. =) We paid the ER vet a call on Sunday. I won't go into the specifics on that, but those of you who know Tiggy will have major sympathy for the vet, her assistant, and Tigger himself. Stressed is the polite way to describe my cat when he goes for a vet visit. At least now we know it's nothing devastating (arthritis) and his claws have been clipped. ;-)

Gone Fishin’
Although it means missing the opportunity to tape the Lion Dance ... again, I opted not to head to Chinatown’s New Year’s celebrations today. It’s too cold, and I’d have to catch an early bus inorder to be in Boston on time. If it weren’t so cold, I could justify standing there with my camcorder and hanging out ‘til the next train back, but the weather report says otherwise. *sigh*
Plus, Tiggy’s foot is ... well, not quite right, and I want to keep an eye on him today. I know the vet told my sister to wait a few days, but when I came home last night and saw him, I understood why my sister had described his foot as twisted and the limping as scary. He isn’t behaving any differently, and his foot/ leg doesn’t appear to hurt him, but still ... Dislocation keeps popping into my head, as does a dozen other possibilities. :-(
Yesterday was good, though it didn’t start that way, what with first my sister’s phone call (What happened to the cat’s leg?) and then my mother’s call (There’s a car up on the sidewalk ... and ambulances ... and lots of police cars ...). Work, however, wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been for a busy Saturday and afterwards was Chick Day. Never ate at Bugaboo Creek before. The food was tasty and the talking moose was fun, but I hadn’t realized it was a steak house, and I wasn’t in a meaty sorta mood. Still, I enjoyed lunch and even more so L.’s frightened confession when we first parked (I’ve never eaten moose before). I liked the movie, too, and no one kicked the backs of our seats, so that was a bonus. (Of course, J. sat in the only broken seat in the row but never said a word ‘til it was all over. She’s a patient soul.) The ending was well done, and like that Johnny Depp movie we saw in the Previews says The only thing that matters is the ending ... or something like that. If the ending is weak, then there’s no satisfaction for the viewer. Actually, I don’t agree competely with that statement because the beginning sets the tone and the middle tells the story, so they’re just important ... but anyway ... I’d recommend Big Fish to everyone and would like to see it again.
One of the topics discussed at lunch was Escapade, and I have to admit swinging from optomistic to pessismistic and back again on a regular basis (and this time was no different). Please, if you’re reading this & considering signing up and you have any questions or concerns or suggestions or comments in general, let me know! I’d really like to hear from you.

Year of the Monkey
I'm a little excited because I might actually make the Chinese New Year celebrations in Chinatown in Boston this year! I've missed it *every year* that I've wanted to go. This year I might actually get there! yay!

Weekend in New York
Friday morning I received a watch and ... something else ... for my birthday. (faulty memory) During the day, my email box received a few ecards. When I arrived home, I had a card waiting from my Dad. That night we blew out candles and enjoyed a double layer chocolate cake with strawberries.
Saturday, L. and I traveled to NYC where we met Trinity (S.), Dargo (I.) and ZGirl (L.H.) at Penn and then headed a few blocks over to play Lazer Tag! While waiting for our turn, we fed quarters to the video games and had a Tekken 4 challenge of sorts. S. has Nina’s moves down. lol Lazer Tag itself was awesome. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would (even though it was hot in those vests!) ... Although I’d been warned to hold down the front buttons while pulling the trigger (otherwise the shot won’t register), I kept forgetting to do so during Game One. lol Game Two’s scores were better. Green Team lost. Trinity, Dargo, and ZGirl were on the Red Team and actually had a good strategy for playing. I was on Green Team. We just went out there and hoped for the best. lol
It was my first time, and I’d love to do it again, maybe with more people. =)
We put on our best Charlie’s Angels poses (hee) in front of the briefing room (blame it on dehydration? *g*) before we searched out food and drink.
Dinner was at Planet Hollywood where service was not up to snuff, but I still enjoyed my Cobb Salad and had a great time anyway. Afterwards we made our way into Brooklyn where our host and hostess (I. and birthday girl S.) provided treats and drinks and a chocolate cheesecake birthday cake for me and S. (yum!) :D (I also got a cool little book of quotes from L.H.) We watched “Bringing Down the House” and “Galaxy Quest” before conking out around 3:30am.
Sunday was leisurely and relaxing. We woke up late (well, all except for poor I. who had to go to work) and watched a video of some Ty Treadway clips that L. had brought with her. Before we ventured to breakfast (Junior’s), I had the pleasure of reading one of the screenplays that S. is working on. She’s a talented writer from what I read, though I hope to look at it more closely soon.
We figured we’d be cutting it close if we went to Port Washington and decided to save that for another visit. The remaining hours before L. and my train was spent at the Manhattan Mall where we walked around a bit before sitting and chatting. S. & L.H. escorted us back to Penn, so L. & I could wait for our train (which was a little delayed, yet we still arrived at our destination on time).
Oh, and another present ... last Sunday, my sisters gave me a digital camcorder! :D

Sad news ... my grandmother is back in the nursing home, for good now. She required more care at home than my uncle could handle alone, and my grandmother, being the independent woman that she is in spirit, wouldn’t cooperate with the caregivers that came to help.

My Scaper Con report is available for your perusal here. It’s more of a personal diary of the weekend and may not be of interest to everyone (which is why I have a Photos Only section). *g*
The wonderful Blue Lady committee will be taking a much needed rest in 2004 and “Scaper Con” will not be held, *but* there are several smaller Scaper conventions proposed around the country for next year, organized by fans. So far I know of two, one on each coast of the U.S. Wormhole West will be held in San Francisco in the Fall of 2004. They plan on inviting Farscape guests to their convention. A smaller, fans only (ie, no guests!) convention is being planned on the East Coast. Escapade, a fan-run Farscape convention based in Boston, will be held June 24-27, 2004. Please see the website for details.

Merry Christmas! and Happy Holidays!
Season's Greetings to everyone! :D
My grandmother is coming home from the hospital tomorrow, so the the traditional Christmas Eve celebrations will continue as planned! yay! Hopefully, I'll be out of work early enough in the day tomorrow that I can accomplish some wrapping before joining family at the party. *g*

Somehow I must coordinate a get-together with three friends who'll be in the area. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Yet nothing is ever as easy as it should be. Ah well, it'll be worth it in the end. ;)

The filming of the Farscape miniseries is a wonderful Christmas present for all Scapers yet I'm a bit dismayed by the lack of publicity. Instead of Farscape Commences Filming in Oz!, I've been hearing about World Idol and the fact that no one will be watching it ... that's what I hear anyway. Maybe the entertainment media is waiting for the Henson announcement which hasn't happened yet. Hope is the seasonal theme and one ever present in Farscape; it's what, imho, motivates Scapers. So, I guess I'll hope. I hope that there's a buzz and the cast & crew get some long overdue attention and accolades. I hope the ratings soar through the roof. I hope it leads to challenging roles for the cast and exciting jobs for the crew. Whatever happens, I'm excited that it's happening so soon, and somehow I feel vindicated. :)

This morning was spent shooing Tigger away from the tree. Usually he goes after tinsel, ribbon, and really shiny bows, so those items were left off the tree and the presents. This morning he decides he will eat the tree anyway. Mind you, it's a fake tree, and the cat is desperately chewing on it. Then when he is scolded (because tree-eating tends to lead him into wrapping paper ripping), he pauses and looks at me with his big, round eyes as if to say Who me? I'm not doing anything. He even got sneaky and slid through the presents to behind the tree where I can't see him as well. I hear rustle, crinkle, munch, look up, and he's nowhere to be found. I call him and suddenly the noises stop. I approach the tree and peer through the branches (it may be fake, but it's a *big* tree) and see him standing ever so still. *g* Occasionally he looks up through the branches, then straight ahead again, unmoving, probably hoping I wouldn't notice him. It was too cute, so I gave up and went back to getting ready for work. I'm a bit fearful as to what condition the tree and gifts will be in when I get home. *bg*

Let it Snow ...
The first real snowfall of Fall/Winter in New England dumped around 24 inches on my little town over the weekend. Luckily the office where I work closed Saturday in anticipation of the weather. *g* Saturday was very windy, and the snow came down heavy. Sunday was a bit warmer, probably due to slower winds. I spent an hour or two Saturday afternoon shoveling; same for Sunday morning. Imagine shoveling the driveway, the walkway, the stairs, then unburying the cars, thinking you’re done, then ... wha? the driveway, the walkway, and the stairs all need to be shoveled out again. lol
One of my neighbors suggested the town (or someone) should provide a Coffee Truck (similar to an Ice Cream truck in the summer time) to drive through the streets on these wintery days, selling coffee. *vbg* I think that’s a great idea. lol
We took a walk downtown to a local store at the end of our street to pick up snacks. It must’ve been a sight to see. Not much is cleared from the streets or sidewalks, and there are mountainous snow bank mounds separating those on the street from those on the sidewalk. Climbing the snow banks brought back memories. lol

Today I am babysitting Ella instead of going into work. Yay! =)
That’s the happy news. The sad news is another great uncle passed away. The wake was Thursday and Friday (which I, of course, missed due to work and not knowing about it on time); the burial was Saturday, during the storm .. though it might have been delayed due to the snow (?) .. I don’t really know how these things work.

Saturday I also had the pleasure of watching really bad anime (not adult anime - the kind that’s geared toward teens). Well, I only watched it for a few minutes, and it was bad in the sense that the cartoon was mostly voiceovers and panning over stills. There wasn’t much actual animation. (Hey! I can do that!)
Then I watched a bit of “Little Bill” which is a sweet, fun, cartoon for kids.

A little on conventions ...
I’ve finally finished my Scaper Con report, complete with photos, but I have to upload the pages. It’s more of a personal diary of the weekend and may not be of interest to everyone (which is why I have a Photos Only section). I have to figure out a way to set captions on the photos, too. *g*
The wonderful Blue Lady committee will be taking a much needed rest in 2004 and “Scaper Con” will not be held, *but* there are several smaller Scaper conventions proposed around the country for next year, organized by fans. So far I know of two, one on each coast of the U.S. Wormhole West will be held in San Francisco in the Fall of 2004. They plan on inviting Farscape guests to their convention. A smaller, fans only (ie, no guests!) convention is being planned on the East Coast. Soon, the organizers (of which I am one) will be ready to officially announce Escapade, a fan-run Farscape convention based in Boston, June 2004.
We’re almost there. We’ll let you know. Keep your eyes and ears peeled. *g*

Happy Thanksgiving
Though it was questionable at one point (an argument over defrosting in the microwave was avoided -- don’t ask), yesterday turned out to be a wonderful Thanksgiving day. My mother, sister and I enjoyed a selection of side dishes instead of a big, old turkey. We watched the Macy Day Parade, Miracle on 34th Street and then Shogun on DVD. Unfortunately, our RCA cables went kaputt on us today, and so the Shogun DVD was viewed on the Playstation 2 machine. :-)
Thursday morning I was awoken with a phone call from a friend in Texas wishing us a Happy Thanksgiving. She always remembers, no matter where she is. *g* I need to plan a visit out to Austin before she moves again. ;-)
Wednesday was a lovely visit from my little niece and a phone call from daddio. Another sis was supposed to come for Thanksgiving, but she had car problems and couldn’t make the drive. *sniff* Of course, had she come Wednesday, she would’ve only had to rush back the next afternoon because she had to work Thursday! (poor Sherbert)
I hope everyone had a good day. Gobble, gobble ...

Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker is playing at the Wang Theatre until the end of the December, and then the annual tradition will be no more! The Radio City Christmas Spectacular will be at the Wang for the next five years (or something like that). I have to make sure I get my family there this year. I don’t think many of them (if any of them) have seen Boston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker!

Shelly Awards
The Shelly Awards are the first ever Farscape fan video awards! Nominations are being accepted until December 20th. After that, the voting will begin. :D
Nominations for the Sparkys (fan fiction awards) continue until January 10, 2004.
Unless you haven't been online much (or you don't read TV Guide, the Chicago Tribune, or USA Today, or you don't watch CNN HLN), you know that the rumors of a Farscape miniseries are true! You know what that means? We did it! More Farscape! Woo hoo! :D Of course, we're still waiting on the official announcement from Jim Henson Productions, and there are no further details ath this time. This is fantastic news, and in conjunction with the Corporate Sponsor Announcement on SFS.com, it's generating a lot of excitement in the campaign. One of the goals (other than more Farscape) has always been to grow the viewing audience. Between the Military Project and other efforts, when the miniseries airs, there should be some noticable Neilsen ratings! :D
I *had* hoped for more mainstream press and entertainment news re: Farscape recently, but maybe it'll come with the Henson announcement at some point. (Enough with who was voted off "Survivor" and who "The Bachelor" is going to marry! I want to see some mention of John and Aeryn! D'Argo and Chiana! Moya! Rygel! ... )

At TyTreadway.com there is a wonderful Soap Talk report on an outing of Ty fans to the show during the same weekend of the Farscape Creation Convention in Burbank. I'd really love to get Ben Browder on Soap Talk (which is on SoapNet). I think Ty and Ben, onstage together, would make an interesting combo. Having met Ty, I can honestly say he is as down-to-earth, intelligent, caring and genuine as he appears. :D ... Plus, Ben guest starred on both Melrose Place and Party of Five, so there *is* a Soap connection. *g*

What a Weekend
Well, I missed the VP at Katya's on Saturday! My niece sitting and grandma duties ran late. I heard, though, it was a fun time by all, and Sean narrowly missed major spoilage. *g*
Sunday was interesting. Ella came for a visit, and Tigger ended up licking the top of her head. It was fascinating to watch and maybe a bit nerve-wracking for my sis. lol I would give more details, but they probably aren't very worthwhile to anyone but us. *vbg* Sunday also found us watching For Me and My Gal with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly. That was a first for me; I'd never seen that movie before! This put us in the mood for some Fred and Ginger fun, so we popped in Shall We Dance. It's a hilarious movie! or at least I think so. We laughed out loud at Cecil Flintridge trying to explain where he was to confused manager Jeffrey. *g* Such a great movie! and it has one of my favorite scenes, roller skating in the park during "Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to" (hee hee)! Can't say more just in case you haven't seen it! Of course, we followed that with The Philadelphia Story! Fantastic performances all around! :)
My mom showed me a dollar bill full of little "love notes" scribbled on it that she found. I'd forgotten that people sometimes write messages on their money. lol So, of course, I wrote various Farscape-related things all over mine before I went to bed. ;)
Speaking of which, FS rumors are readily becoming reality. Supposedly there's a press conference by Henson later this week. No news was leaked at the con, but plenty was hinted at. *g* Head on over to FMD, Kansas, or the Dom for con reports of all kinds. :) Sounds like the con was a success and everyone, including the guests, had a good time. :)
On another note, my grandmother went into the hospital last night, but all's well. She should be home today. ;)

Homecoming
When I returned home from work Saturday, I found out my grandmother was finally home from her six month ordeal in hospital & nursing home limbo land. I didn’t have a chance to visit because we were off to see my niece (and new mom & dad, too, of course!). My sis had been kind enough to download an mirc client to her hard drive, so I wouldn’t miss the FWA meeting. =) ... When we arrived, they were watching another baby, too. So, there was a 4 1/2 month old in addition to the 2 1/2 week old. *bg* Unfortunately, the meeting went over two hours long (I signed off after two hours). I didn’t get as much play time with my niece or the other baby as I would’ve liked. :( Also, my brother-in-law’s brother and his fiancee were visiting from out of state, and I felt very rude because I was online the whole time they were there! They left, and I was still online in the meeting. :( Babies were needing to be tended to, so I signed off. *sigh* At least, after a few weeks of trying to attend, I finally made it to a meeting, and some things were decided, so I was happy about that. ;-)
By the time we returned home, it was too late to visit with my grandmother, so I saved that for Sunday. My aunt and her family came over for awhile as well, and I was lucky enough to see my cousin’s babies -- 4 1/2 month old twin boys. They were so cute. I hadn’t seem them yet. *g* My grandmother was thrilled to be home, and she seems much better though she’s not able to really care for herself on her own (not yet anyway). Hopefully the visiting nurses have been set up. I’m a little worried about that, but I don’t work too far from home (within walking distance actually), so I can always check up on her or hurry home in an emergency. She was so relieved to be in familiar surroundings and was so excited to be visiting with the twins. =) Her dog was in over protective mode because she missed my grandma, too. *g*
All went well.

They left, and I was still online in the meeting. :( Babies were needing to be tended to, so I signed off. *sigh* At least, after a few weeks of trying to attend, I finally made it to a meeting, and some things were decided, so I was happy about that. ;-)
By the time we returned home, it was too late to visit with my grandmother, so I saved that for Sunday. My aunt and her family came over for awhile as well, and I was lucky enough to see my cousin’s babies -- 4 1/2 month old twin boys. They were so cute. I hadn’t seem them yet. *g* My grandmother was thrilled to be home, and she seems much better though she’s not able to really care for herself on her own (not yet anyway). Hopefully the visiting nurses have been set up. I’m a little worried about that, but I don’t work too far from home (within walking distance actually), so I can always check up on her or hurry home in an emergency. She was so relieved to be in familiar surroundings and was so excited to be visiting with the twins. =) Her dog was in over protective mode because she missed my grandma, too. *g*
All went well.

Deadlines for the con books are approaching! It’s your chance to tell the Farscape cast how much you appreciated all their hard work on the series and anything else you might want to say! Jot down a short note, write a poem, send a recipe! Whatever you want, just send it!

Work should not take up so much of my “free” time. Off work hours are fleeting. I feel drained.
Halloween Night
The final count of Trick-or-Treaters was around 20 ... or 23 if you count the return visitors. *g*
Besides candy from our house, I was also handing out a second round of candies from the neighbors (well, my uncle’s acutally) ‘cause no one was home. *g*
The initial two groups were followed by a scary witch (hee hee), a cowgirl “riding” her inflatable pool-float horse (*g*), a group of seven (assorted witches, pirates, a flower *bg*), Harry Potter & two Scary Movie guys (“no, no, we weren’t here before,” they insist). They were adorable! and polite! =)
Then there was the final group of five little girls dressed as witches or whatever who seemed to be overly excited by the sugar (note to girls: you’re supposed to wait ‘til you get home before sampling the candy!). The most obnoxious of them proclaimed, “Don’t you love me?” then quickly added, “Can we take two pieces?” as she snatched a handful of candy. “Everyone says Yes, ‘cause we’re such good kids.”
Another one asked, “Are they home next door?” (keep in mind that I just told them the neighbors weren’t home) One of the youngest piped up with “Why not?” when I answered “No.” Still another spoke up and said “because they don’t want to be.”
Well, at least they said Thank You.

Happy Halloween!
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays not only because it occurs during Autumn, one of the prettiest seasons in my area, but also because it's the one enchanted time of the year when little kids can get all dressed up, walk around at night and collect candy. Oh, sure, there are other holidays where small children dress up; some do it every day while playing games of make-believe. None of these costume celebrations really happen though when the sun goes down, that mysterious time of the day when children are told to come inside and go to bed. Ghosts and goblins and fairy princesses parade through the neighborhood and knock on doors they'd never be allowed to visit when the sun is shining. Spooky stories and movies are not just scary but fun on Halloween. Eating candy is acceptable, and the stash lasts a week or more, even after you've brought most of it into school to share with others. It's magical for many kids. It was for me; it still is sometimes (especially when I see a small child excited to be out trick-or-treating). So, in keeping with today's theme, here are some ghoulish links for you! mwahahahaha ...

Off-topic: I've decided to stop stressing myself over getting my Hong Kong Phooey video on tape for the Farscape Music Video Contest from Creation Entertainment because I'm not going to make the deadline no matter. Plus, the chances of my little vid being chosen is slim to none since I've seen some of the competition! They are good! Ah, well, life goes on ... =)

First Snow Fall of the Season
The first snow fall of the season was mostly wet but sometimes fluffy. It didn't last very long. Well, that's New England for you!
The Viewing Party on Saturday at Jo's was so much fun, and we received little goodie bags at the end. (hee) There was pizza and cannoli and a newbie, too! The Doll Doctor brought her current creations, some of the custom dolls for the guests at the November 2003 Official Farscape Convention in Burbank (and for other cons, too). *g* We also saw some ElectraWoman and DynaGirl (in addition to Farscape, of course), along with the Star Wars Holiday Special. Missed it? Don't remember it? Read a review at Teleport Holiday News: Star Wars Holiday Special.

Autumn in New England
Well, it's that time of the year again where the trees turn gold and red, and people drive up and down New England roads looking for the best views of the leaves turning color. It's a beautiful time of year around here, and one of my favorites. (I love Fall and Spring!) Following are some sites that address Autumn and where the peak colors are (and when):

Okay, now that my little outburst is out of my system (hee) ...
The following is courtesy of the October 2003 issue of The Independent, Video & Film Monthly put out by the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers.
First,
"3 Minute Thriller Contest"
Tuscon AIVF in Tuscon, AZ is setting a challenge to filmmakers to make a 3 min. (or less) thriller, horror short, or science fiction short (or spoof). The short should have been shot between August 1 and October 13.
Deadline is October 13.
Entry fee is $13.
VHS or mini DV for screening. Entries will be screened on Halloween, October 31 when the winner will be announced.

Okay, this post isn't really about October. *g* My grandmother is supposed to come home on Saturday. To be honest I'm not sure this is the best thing for her, health-wise, at this point, but it's what she wants. Hopefully, she'll be happier at home and will improve some.
I'm almost finished writing up my Scaper Con report sans photos. Yes, I know. The convention was in August, and it's now October. I am aware of that. lol
